Why Language Leap Was Created

Language Leap was created by a former professional software developer and lifelong student of the Japanese Language. Frustrated with traditional Japanese textbooks and language school programs (he found them dull, out of touch, and not useful in real life) he began researching the BEST ways to acquire language proficiency.

Everyday Japanese doesn't sound like what's taught in textbook materials — and in truth, very few people actually speak the way language learners are typically taught. Most Japanese language schools also focus on JLPT test preparation which is NOT the best way to acquire CONVERSATIONAL fluency.

Further, there is no simple way to categorize and review study materials - the more vocabulary and grammar you are exposed to, the harder it becomes to go BACK and review previously studied materials.

And so to resolve these flaws, Language Leap leapt into existance....

Our Goal

Unless you are gifted with a natural ability for learning new languages, there is no tried and true method to efficiently learn a foreign language from scratch.

While the mainstream mantra of "emersion" get's bantied about on a regular basis, if you really want to gain fluency in a language you must approach it using the best tools available. You can spend hundreds of hours in a Japanese park listening to natives speak to each other, but if you have no idea what they are saying, it doesn't matter how many hours you are "immersed."

Language learning requires STUDY, REPETITION and PRACTICE!

So our goal with Language Leap is to provide an efficient and effective way to accomplish the above using your OWN study materials, and not some boring classroom lessons.
